If dentists are authorized to prescribe chlorhexidine gluconate, then why does this ingredient receive horrific reviews as read by the online layperson?

Apparently, dogs survive quite well ‘consuming’ a .12% chlorhexidine gluconate concentration in their canine oral rinses, well marketed by Amazon, Walmart, Target stores, but adult customers, apparently having to put their lives into their own hands, must have a prescription to purchase oral chlorhexidine gluconate if the concentration exceeds .12%.
S’plain, please.

I would like any additional information you offered to send. Thank you.

Hello Gail
You can buy chlorhexidine without a prescription but I certainly don’t recommend it. It is the main ingredient in some mouthwash although I don’t know what concentration is used. See this article on my website.

My personal experience is that baking soda, salt and hydrogen peroxide…and yes OraMD…is just as effective and not toxic.

I’ve sent you a copy of the recipe that everyone is asking for.

Hello Gail
I sent the recipe to you some time ago.
I cannot explain why you need a prescription for chlorhexidine gluconate.
I don’t use it so it isn’t something that worries me.
